WHAT TO BRING
Personal Gear and Clothing List
It will be important to be flexible in your attitude and to learn from the experiences that you will have.
I just returned from New Mexico and the climate was difficult. It was cold, windy and sand was blowing. The wind is difficult to deal with and it blows sand with a great force. The sand will get into everything that you have and it is difficult to keep out of your tents. The sand develops an electrical charge and it attaches to everything. So, you must keep important items in sealed plastic bags. Also, the sand will get into the meals and it is an interesting experience having a mixture of sand with your food.
A first step towards this is planning on trying to pack everything in one bag/backpack.
We recommend a backpack because of the easy of carrying a load. Each volunteer should limit themselves to one backpack-size piece of baggage. ....and maybe a carry-on bag.
If you need special food, you must bring a supply of it.
If you need special medication, you must bring a supply of it.
